Welcome to Jiggery Pokery Embroidery Kits
It's great to meet you. If you're looking for modern embroidery kits or patterns, you're in the right place.
About me and my business
I'm Hilary. I set up a shop on Etsy in May 2019 selling a small range of modern embroidery kits UK. Since then I have expanded my business internationally, especially in the United States, Canada and Australia. With over 10,000 sales and more than a thousand positive reviews I decided to set up a website of my own, although my Etsy shop, JiggeryPokeryUK, is still very busy!
I started my business because I had got back into embroidery after many years, starting with a kit I bought at the Knitting & Stitching Show. The kit was fantastic and I couldn't wait to start on another, but I couldn't find any that I really liked. So I decided to make my own - mad, I know, but the business has never looked back and I now run it full-time.
I'm particularly drawn to Scandinavian designs because I love the clean, minimalist feel and unusual colour combinations. I love choosing stitches and threads which make the most of great design. I embroider every one of my designs myself before releasing them so I can be sure the instructions are really clear and it will work perfectly for you.
I'm married to Martin, who is Australian. He's very helpful with all the practical things that go into running a business. I've got three grown-up children, grandchildren and a beautiful Bengal cat.
Sponsorship - Royal School of Needlework stitch bank
I'm very proud to sponsor the RSN's stitch bank entry for double back stitch. The stitch bank aims to become the world-wide embroidery stitch directory, making sure none get forgotten. Each entry includes instructions on how to do the stitch. I'm delighted to support such a fantastic project which will benefit embroidery lovers everywhere.
Small business support
I try to make positive changes on things that matter, such as sustainability. Switching to eco-friendly products and packaging is not as easy as it sounds. I'm quoted on pages 19 and 20 in this report from Facebook Meta into small businesses and climate action. I'm talking about trying to find eco-friendly alternatives to the blue foam corner protectors I use for posting my embroidery display frames. I'm still looking!
